     Escort: who to choose?

Hello,

I have read through the posts and could not find a suitable answer for my dilemma. I am so confused about who I should have escort me down the aisle. In fact, this issue is so nagging I feel like eloping just to avoid the issue. My father passed away about eleven years ago and we were close despite my parents divorce. My mother and I are a very close and she played the predominate parental role while I was growing up. I am also very close to my extended family: aunts and uncles and my brother and I are best friends. Now it is time to choose someone to escort me down the aisle and everyone, including my fiance, has an opinion of who should play that part. A few years ago I thought I would have my favorite uncle escort me but now I afraid that it would not be proper. He is not a blood relative and he did not help raise me. I do not want to disrespect my mother and father for all that they did for me; yet, I do not want to disappoint my uncle. Please help! thank you.
