Help! Dad is ordained but what else does he need to do?
I need help! I need to know if anyone can tell me if there is anything else my father needs to do to be able to marry us in less then 2 weeks? He has his ordination certificate but does he need to file papers at the court house or anything like that? It seems way too easy that he just has a certificate and can do it, it seems like there sould be more he needs to do!
Can any one help me with this? We are getting married in Lawrence, Kansas if that matter at all.

In Kansas, Judges of a court of record or any ordained clergyperson may perform wedding ceremonies in Kansas. You should check with the District Court Clerk's Office to determine if dad needs to register with that office before officiating a wedding in Kansas. While some states indicate a "Judge or ordained clergyperson" may officiate a marriage, some require verification of credentials and may require that the officiant provide evidence that he/she is currently serving in the capacity of a clergyperson.
