I need to know how to have candle lighters in my ceremony??

I have an evening wedding at about 7pm in June. We want to have a candle lighting ceremony and I am wondering if we would have the wedding party light the candles or our mothers? How does the candle lighting ceremony work?

I think I would have the mothers light the unity candles and then light the candles for the guests beginning with the families on each side. It is difficult for the attendants to handle candles during the ceremony, especially the bridesmaids who are holding the bouquets.

Also you need to get permission from the church to be sure they allow open flame.
