I'm not a bridesmaid, but I have been asked my the bride to read a poem or Irish wedding blessing during the ceremony. Can anyone help me with a special poem they know? How long should it be?

The Irish are famous for their blessings! Here are two of my favorites. The first is featured in my book, chosen by so many of my couples. The second works well for vow renewals. Both are of appropriate length.
A Traditional Irish Marriage Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face, the rains fall soft upon your fields.
May the light of friendship guide your paths together.
May the laughter of children grace the halls of your home.
May the joy of living for one another trip a smile from your lips, a twinkle from your eyes.
And,
when eternity beckons, at the end of a life heaped high with love,
May the good Lord embrace you with the arms that have nurtured you the whole length of your joy filled days.
May the gracious God hold you both in the palm of His hands.
And today,
May the spirit of Love find a dwelling place in your hearts.

Rev Susanna has shared one of my most favorite Irish wedding blessings! Also, a search on the internet will offer you many other possibilities as well. Annemarie Juhlian, Wedding Officiant & Minister

The traditional irish wedding blessing is always a good one. There are many excellent resources at your local book store for selecting readings at weddings. An internet seach is also a great place to look. God Bless, Bob Deacon Bob Tousey
