Is aisle runner rolled out before or during wedding ceremony?

When is the aisle runner put down? Is it before guest arrive or after all guests are seated and the wedding party comes down the aisle?

Aisle runners should be put down after the guests are seated and just before the flower girl, then bride enters. It can be done for all of the bridal party, however the object is to protect the brides gown train.
