My boyfriend and I are considering marriage. He is very Catholic and I am Jewish. I had a Bat Mitzvah but I currently do not attend services. I am more culturally religious. He is seeking the advice from a Catholic Priest to ensure he would not be sinning to marry a non-believer. I threw the idea of a destination wedding because I do not want to marry in a Catholic church. Would our marriage be recongnized by his church if we did this? Would he go to hell? Any insight would be appreciated.

I ask you: How can someone go to hell in the name of love? In Christianity, it is taught that God is love. I often remind Christians that Jesus was Jewish, leading a Jewish life, celebrating Jewish traditions! The Catholic Church will only recognize a marriage conducted by their clergy. I have seen priests conduct interfaith ceremonies. Not all will. If the ceremony is outside of the church, the priest will need to obtain a special dispensation to perform the service. Where there is great love, there is a way... All blessings, Rev.
