Need marriage license for California but my fiance and I currently live out of state. I'm a California resident but I recently graduated from college in Wash. DC. and have not moved back yet. He lives in Maryland. Everything that I read online seems to tell me that we have to apply in person, but that's going to be incredibly difficult to do. We won't be coming back to Cali. until just before the wedding (friends and family are assisting with preparations), and I'm also understanding that they're only good for 90 days and you cannot apply out of state. Otherwise, we'd get one while we're here for the Holidays (the wedding is in August '05). Any suggestions for applying out of state exceptions, extending the period that the license is good for, etc? Help!
It sounds like it's no big deal. You are correct in stating that you must apply in person and the license is good for 90 days... but there seems to be no waiting period (except for the hour it takes to process the license). Why not get the license when you get back to California?
