Personal vows-- should we write them or memorize them??
OK, so my fiance and I are planning on doing personalized vows for our wedding in June. My mother says that we should memorize our vows and that writing them would be tacky for the ceremony. I am afraid I will forget something. Any advice at all would help please. THANKS!

I have done thousands of ceremonies and only a few couples have memorized their vows--- and one of them was not able to make it through. Honestly, I don't recommend it, as you will be so nervous to begin with.
Most couples who write their own vows, read them. You can have your vows printed on elegant cards. Have the cards at the altar waiting. Your officiant can then hand them to you when the time comes. I would suggest that you hold your beloved's hand with your free hand.
Follow your inner instinct.
Afterall, you are the one who will be stating the vows!

Reverend Susanna offered some great advice by recommending having your vows printed. That would make a very special keepsake for the two of you! Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
