My sister's wedding is planned for 6:30 PM. Is this considered a formal wedding time or semi-formal? We are trying to write the invitations and are not sure if we need to put "Black Tie Preferred" on the invitation. Any insight would be great!

6:30 is a formal wedding time frame and if you want black tie attire, you can state that as you proposed. Black Tie is all that is necessary. Nancy Tucker President of Weddings Beautiful US http://www.weddingsbeautiful.com

I agree. And, "Black Tie Preferred" is very confusing. So, please do not use it. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
