I am planning on signing my marriage license either before or after a destination wedding (to save money and because of the hassle). Can I still use the normal vows if we do this?

Dear Vows,

This is tricky and a real problem. If you sign your marriage license before you leave, you will be married. So, your wedding would be a vow renewal. But, if you sign after your wedding, it isn't much different than when we sign our papers after the ceremony. It is simply delayed.

So, your best choice is to sign them after. Your vows could be wedding vows.

Tricky. I wish it were simplier, but it isn't.

Best wishes,
