My fiance is leaving for military and we are planning on going to city hall just to get a marriage certificate. After his boot camp, we plan to have a formal wedding.
I do not want anyone to know about the "city hall" wedding, since I want the formal wedding as our official wedding. What do I do?
You have a choice to make here. Either you host your wedding as you planned or elope. There really is no other choice. To host a pretend wedding later would be a lie and you would be trying to trick your guests into believing that this is your wedding, which is a gift giving event--not nice.
Please read our many posts on this subject.
We all have to make difficult decision in life. This is just one of them.
Rebecca has given you excellent advice. It is your choice whether or not you decide to begin your marriage on a note of deception. Marriage license transactions are published in local newspapers and it is bound to be seen. Do the right thing and wait until after your fiance returns from boot camp. Then you can both plan together on having a joyous wedding day.
