Who chooses the clergy or officiant for the wedding?

Who decides which clergy performs the ceremony -bride or groom? In this case, the groom's father is a clergyman and he wants his father while the bride wants the clergy from her church. How do you think this should be settled?

These days it is a joint decision. This situation is more complex in that it is not just religious, it is personal. It seems the son must be very close to his father to want him to officiate.

A possible solution (if it is possible given the respective churches and pastors): Have the father do the ceremony in the bride's church with a second clergy person present to give a blessing and say a few words.

Where there is love, there is a way.

Let respect be the foundation of your conversations, and love the bridge.

Blessings!
