If your invitation says a certain time, say 5:00 pm, what happens at this time? Some of the old folks say that is the time the bride walks down the aisle. Does that mean that we start the procession with the attendants and stuff earlier than the time on the invitation? I am saying that the time on the invitation is the time the wedding starts with the bridesmaids, flower girl, ring bearer, etc and then the bride comes down the aisle. What is the proper ettiquette?

The time you print on the invitation is the time you expect your guests to arrive. This is the time the wedding should begin. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

I agree. Many allow fifteen minutes to pass as guests may arrive exactly at the appointed time and need time to be seated. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
