     divorced seating

My ex and I divorced a few years ago after 20+ years. Our daughter is getting married and I am confused about seating.

I received an email from my daughter telling us that we (ex and I) would sit in the first row if we agree. Otherwise her mother would sit in the first row and I in the third. My ex and I are both engaged to others.

I realize this is my Daughters day, but sometimes I think it's my checkbook that is being invited.

Because my ex and I are both engaged is it appropriate for the 4 of us to sit in the front row?

Dear RBem,

If all of you are fine with it, all of you can sit in the front row. If not, you and your fiance would be sitting in the third row.

Parents are no longer financially responsible for their children's weddings any more. So, if you do not want to contribute, you are not obligated.

Best wishes,
