how do i start planning

I have noooooooo idea how to even begin planning for a wedding. Can anyone give me a guideline of all the things that need to be done. Is it better to hire a wedding coordinator; are they necessary or can it be done yourself?

I would start by getting yourself a good wedding planning book. Try going to Top Wedding Sites' wedding planner page to get references for books and software.
