     married couples in bridal party procession

One of my really good friends is getting married and is having trouble figuring out the procession of the wedding party...

Her childhood friend is the maid of honor and her fiance's best friend is the best man. Her brother is married and is going to be the second in the procession, however she is not good friends with his wife and feels that her closer friends should be towards the beginning of the procession.

What is the etiquette regarding married couples that are in the procession?

Dear Saraliz:

When a couple chooses to pair up attendants in their processional, it is done so by height, shortest to tallest, not by who is married or engaged. I see that you mention 'her brother is going to be second in the processional'. However, done correctly, the processional starting line would look like this:

The officiant;

The groom;

The best man;

then the rest of the groomsmen

Dear Procession Progression,

Good news. Married couples do not need to be paired for the wedding ceremony.

Best wishes,
