     officiants fee

I am having an outdoor wedding, and my father has asked a good friend of his who is a retired minister to preform the ceremony. We are wondering what the proper ammount of money to pay him is? We have no idea how rates go and we do not want the money we give him to be too low for what the norm is.

Acceptable fees can range dramatically depending on where you live. Ask your minister what he expects to be paid or what he is typically paid or, if you don't feel comfortable asking call a local church and ask what the minister or priests' fee is and if your minister has to travel add a bit for travel time and expenses.
