     receiving line

My Daughter's wedding ceremony and reception is in the same place. Guests will be ushered into another area after the ceremony for the cocktail hour. We were planning to have the receiving line before dinner. There are three Bridesmaids and three groomsmen and four parents. My question is who should be in the receiving line? Would it be alright for just the Bride and Groom and the parents or should the Maid of Honor be included? Also what is the order that we stand in? We are having name cards (in alphabetical order)that will be placed on a table just after the receiving line. I thought that the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen could assist the guests in finding their card and directing them to their table. Is that proper? I would appreciate your advice.

You can certainly do the receiving line with only the parents and bride and groom.

It would be mother of the bride, father of the groom, mother of the groom, father of the bride, bride and groom and if you decide to use the Maid of honor she's next and the bridesmaids would follow her in order of oldest first...no groomsmen in the receiving line.
