     receiving line question

I am having a smaller wedding outside. I want to have a receiving line with just he and I, but I'm not sure when to do it: as soon as we walk back down the aisle and before pictures, or after pictures and before the reception? With everything being outside, I'm not sure how to go about it! Please help!!!

With a smaller wedding, you have the perfect opportunity to do a receiving line. Time is the issue that you need to consider. Do your guests leave the ceremony and go to a cocktail area? Do you have time restraints on the photographer?

I have had many couples who do either a receiving line with (just the two of them) as guests enter the dinner area, after cocktails and before dinner or you can also greet and release your guests row by row instead of the traditional recessional.

A receiving line done either way can eat up 30 to 45 minutes of your wedding even at a small wedding.

About the reciving line: our photographer will be a close friend and dosen't mind how long we are goint to need her. So do you think the best time is when we walk back down the aisle and before pictures? Our reception area is in the same area as the wedding ceremony, so they could greet us, then go get food while the bridal party takes pictures. Is this a good idea? Thanks for your time!!!Smile
