walking the bride down the aisle

My father is not around yet my mother has been living with a man for over 10 years who is the closet thing to a father I've ever known. I have asked him to walk me down the aisle and he accepted, but now my grandfather who I am not close with fells he should walk me down because he is blood related. What should I do?

You will have to let your grandfather know that, while you love and respect him as your grandfather his (son or son in law) was not there for you; this man was for the past 10 years. So, you have already asked him and he will be your escourt. Perhaps you can tell him you'll include him in a family unity candle ceremony and honor him in the wedding program. You could also have a speciaal dance with him at the reception. Make sure he knows your feelings for him though.
