wedding at fiance's church with bride's pastor

I want to have my wedding at my fiance's church, but I would like my pastor to conduct the vows. What would be the proper way of asking to do this?

With honesty and heart. Here is how I would ask:

"Pastor____, we have decided to have our wedding at ___"s church. We would be honored if you would grace us by presiding over our vows. It would really mean a lot to me. (Optional: We would of course compensate you for your time.)"

He may ask you why you are getting married at another church. Respond sincerely. If you have a personal relationship with him, he may very well do it. Many pastors are incredibly busy people. Just keep in mind, that his time deserves compensation. Sometimes (rarely though) it is against church policy for a pastor of one denomination to wed perform services in the church of another denomination.

One more thing: It is important that you FIRST clear this with the pastor of your fiance's church. Again, sincerely explain to him/her how you feel.
