wedding with our children, out of town, other (?'s)
I have been with my fiance nearly 10 years. We have two children and just got engaged this past Christmas. We are planning our wedding in our small hometown in South Illinois. - can our daughter be the flower girl & our son be the ring bearer ?
- can we get married in a church even though we have children ?
- my fiance is baptist and i am methodist. However we do not attend any churches in Illinois, as we live in New Orleans.
please email me with amy info you have. I know nothing of planning a wedding. So i welcome all your suggestions.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! To answer your questions - I could contact your Minister or a Minister/Officiant at a church where you want to be married to see what their requirements are. Every faith and tradition is different. I think it's wonderful that you want to include your children in your wedding ceremony - and as a Wedding Officiant, I often create unique rituals within a wedding ceremony that honors children. The answer to all your questions is "Yes!" However, you may have to do some research. Each sect has its own requirements. You may first want to try your local Methodist and Baptists churches in your areas, and explain your situation. Some churches many require that you join their church. Others will not. Some churches may simply let you rent the church solely for the ceremony and pay for their minister’s service. Sometimes you can bring your own minister found through a variety of sources, including word-of-mouth recommendation, the internet and through the telephone book. I suggest that you explore the churches in their area, speak to various ministers, attend services and see what feels right for you. Non-denominational University Chapels are often available for ceremonies for a fee. Unitarian Universalist Churches are non-denominational, and welcome people of all faiths. As an intefaith minister, I have officiated at wedding ceremonies for couples with children in Unitarian, Quaker, Episcopal and Presbyterian churches, non-denominational University Chapels and at many other places of worship....
What a wonderful, blessed experience for your family! There are many wonderful ways to include the children in your wedding ceremony. Be sure to speak to your minister about that...
