     Bridal Shower Gift Etiquette Question

Hi there, I'm the MOH throwing the bridal shower and the gifts for the bride have already been arriving to the MOB's home. The bride believes she should be able to open the gifts received by mail, The MOB believes she should wait until the party. I'm stuck on the fence. what would be the best solution?

Dear MOH,

I feel for you. That is a shaky fence that you are sitting on.

If these were wedding gifts and not shower gifts, I would agree with the bride. However, these gifts are for the shower, so they should be opened during the shower. One caveat though. If these gifts were sent by those unable to attend, the bride may open them and present them as opened gifts during the shower.

Hopefully this will please everyone.

Sincerely,

Why are these guests even mailing these bridal shower gifts directly to the bride? They SHOULD be mailing them to the person throwing the shower since most times the shower is a surprise for the bride, right?

Since they are being mailed to the MOB then she should be getting the gifts over to the host of the shower.

Although most brides-to-be assume they are being given a bridal shower, don't you think it rude for them to expect it and know about the gifts in advance. I say, grow up bride and wait for the shower! Sheesh!
