     Bridesmaid Disapproves of Groom

Six months ago, when my finacé and I announced our engagement to my family, my younger sister immediately volunteered herself to be a bridesmaid. She seemed very excited and supportive of the wedding. However, several times in the past few weeks she has expressed a dislike for the groom, and openly doubts that the wedding will even take place. She has done this in front of me, my family, and her friends. The groom is always polite to her, and the rest of my family loves him. I do not think it is appropriate for her to be in my wedding when she obviously does not approve of my fiancé. Would I be out of line to remove her from the wedding party?

Before you ask your sister to step down, which would really cause family distress and possibly sever your relationship with her, take her to lunch to discuss how she feels. If the two of you have an open and honest discussion, maybe you can clear up some misunderstandings or mend some fences before you begin your marriage.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
