     Brunch After the Wedding

Hi Blush,

We have many out of town guests to our Saturday evening wedding and wish to have a brunch after the wedding. We are not leaving for the honeymoon until the Monday after. Both sets of parents (and a little bit of us) are contributing financially. My question isn't so much who pays for this event, but who actually hosts? Is it the POG or the POB? Or can we have it at our place?

Can we have a start and finish time for this or would that be tacky?

Who is included in this, in addition to out of town guests?

What is proper etiquette?

Thanks so much for your help on this!

Dear Soon2B,

I'm a bit confused. It appears as if you are talking about a reception if this is after the wedding. If so, you would be hosting it. If this is a separate affair not related to the wedding, it may be hosted by anyone. This isn't a traditional element, so there are no set rules.

Best wishes,

Sorry for the confusion...this is not for the reception, the reception would be on Saturday evening after the ceremony. It would be kind of a send off for the out of town guests. some use it as a gift opening event (which is, in my opinion, extremely tacky). Does that make more sense?

I agree that those parties are tacky.

This could be hosted by anyone. If it is something you want, then you two could host it.

It wouldn't be polite to add an ending time to your invitation.
