Can I change who I take to a wedding after RSVPing? I want to be a good guest!

My situation is this- I am attending a friend's wedding in three weeks. I'm married and the invitation was sent to Mr & Mrs "keen23" we responded, and said that we would both attend. Now, there's an emerging situation at my husband's company, and he is being flown out of the country for a month to deal with some issues. I still plan on attending the wedding, but would like to take my sister with me, since my husband can be there. Is this OK to do? Should I just call the bride and tell her what I'm doing? I really don't want to go alone, and taking my sister would at least give me someone to sit with, and it won't change the head count or anything.

Thanks!

Angelic I just want to be a thoughtful guest!

Dear Keen,

Your husband was invited not your sister, so this would seem inappropriate. However, if you are good friends with the bride, you could ask her. You are just taking one person to replace your husband. So, you are not making an unreasonable request.

Best wishes,
