Do we have to have a bridal party?

Do we have to have a bridal party or even a maid of honor and best man? We weren't planning on having any wedding party, just my 3 nieces as flower girls. We were trying to make it simple. I have not found any advice on this one. Thanks!

Dear Mitm,

These people are basically witnesses. So, as long as your wedding is very informal, you can create a ceremony that only includes the young girls. They should be between the ages of 4-8.

Best wishes,

The wedding is formal. But we do not really want to have a wedding party. One person said we should and one person said it is our decision. Also we are paying for the wedding, and financially we are on a budget.

A formal wedding has formal elements, such as formal attire and attendants. It may help you to read about wedding etiquette and planning in a reputable book. This way you will know exactly what this is supposed to look like.

Formal weddings typically have quite a number of guests. So, you would need ushers.

Also, as I stated your attendants are basically witnesses, which need to be adults. So, if you have no adults in your wedding party, you would need to have other witnesses sign your wedding license.
