We are using escort cards at the reception. We have invited several single people and included their name & guest on the invitations. We've tried to get the names of all the guests, but don't have them all. What do we put on the escort card? We thought of one card with Mary Jones and Guest, or two cards one for Mary Jones and the other Guest of Mary Jones, but neither seem correct. What is the correct way?
You are on the right track. The same rules are used for the escort cards as for the invitation envelope. You can either write their names on the same card, writing the woman's name first unless the invited is a man, or have two. When you are not sure of the name of your guest's someone special, you may write and guest next to their name or you could add yet another note into your bulging invitation envelope telling your friend that you would love for her to bring a guest.
