Father of the Bride's girlfriend seating

Father of the Bride's girlfriend seating

The parents of the bride have been divorced for over ten years and neither are remarried. The father has a serious girlfriend. The parents of the bride get along fairly well, and the girlfriend gets along with the mother of the bride. The father will be escorting his daughter down the aisle. The mother and father both would like to sit in the front row. Where does the girlfriend of the father sit? The girlfriend and father would like to experience the wedding ceremony together, but it seems odd to have her in the front row (seated before the mothers/grandparents are escorted before the ceremony begins). The father doesn't really want to sit in the third row behind the grandparents since he is the father of the bride. Any advice?

Dear Samantha,

If the mother of the bride doesn't mind her ex sitting next to her in the front row, then he may join her. But, the girlfriend should sit with him. She isn't seated as special, but as one of the guests. So, she would be seated well before most of the guests are watching the special seating.

Best wishes,
