A friend of mine who is fluent in ASL (American Sign Language) has agreed to provide interpreter services for gratis because of our friendship. She says consider it her gift. However, I feel guilty because she gave me a generous fee for doing some interpreting work a couple of months ago. Should I, at least, get her a nice gift as a thank you if she won't take a fee? Since I know the practice and time that goes into interpreting a wedding ceremony I just wouldn't feel right.

If your friend says she doesn't need to be paid, her request should be honored. Trust your instincts, they seem spot on, and give her a nice gift. Select something meaningful. It doesn't have to be expensive, just heartfelt. I'm sure your friend will appreciate the thought. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
