Help I need to know what is proper...Chaos is starting
Me and my fiancee are getting married this year. My parents pay so much for the wedding and then the rest we pay. Well his parents decided that they were going to give us money to help pay for the reception. I have a big family and only inviting 3 family friends and his family is small. His parents want to invite people to our wedding that we have never met and that we don't feel comfortable around. Since they are paying they feel that since their side is smaller than mine that they need to invite more people to equal my family size. What is right? Do I let them invite who ever they want or can we say No we don't know them and would not like them to be invited. Please help me on this it is causing chaos in our house.......

Dear Denet,
Parents are no longer financially responsible for their children's weddings, so anything they contribute is a gift. It doesn't give them planning rights. But, they may not know this.
You have every right to only invite those with whom you are close. But, they have every right to withhold their money. This may be their reaction.
