Invited to shower, wedding, cake reception...but not formal reception
I noticed a lot of questions about this, but nothing that specifically address this angle. I have a friend who was invited to the bridal shower, the wedding and the cake reception following, but not to the formal reception later that evening. Is this a breach of etiquette since she was invited to the wedding and one of the receptions?

Yes, it is. It is as if saying that she is only 'good enough' for the smaller, informal reception.
