I am getting married in February. We are planning to have about 220 guests. My father believes it is appropriate to invite his two bosses (and their spouses) to the wedding. My fiance and I don't believe this is necessary. He has been working for this company for only eight months, however there are only six people in the company- he works from home though. My fiance and I have never met the boss and they do not even know our names. Should we invite them? Please help as this has been an item of disagreement!
No, only those close to the bride and groom should be invited to the wedding. In "the old days" a wedding was a grand affair hosted by the parents of the bride and all of the parents friends were invited. It is not like this anymore since most couples are living on their own and hosting their own weddings. However, even if the parents are hosting, these days it is considered a gift hosted in the bride's and groom's honor and the guest list contains only guests of the bridal couple's choosing.
