Is it okay to have my mom walk me down the aisle

I have decided that I do not want both my father and my step-father to walk me down the aisle simultaneously. As well, I do not want them to do the "one walks halfway, the other walks the other half" thing. Is it okay to have my mom walk me down the aisle or must it be a male?

It's fine etiquette-wise but be sure to speak with the fathers and explain your position. They may be expecting to be your escort and could be insulted or disappointed to hear this from someone else.
