     Left out on the invitation

My Son is getting married in August and when I received the inveitation I was devastated. It listed The Brides parents and my ex-husbansd and his wifes names as requesting the honor of your presence etc.

I was totaly left out of the invitaion. I have cried for days. I can't believe that the Brides mother did this to me. I live in California and My son is on the East coast. Granted I'm far away but he is my only child. This is a day that will never come again for me. What should I do?

Dear Monka:

Typically the wedding invitation lists the party or parties organizing and paying for the wedding, traditionally the brides parent(s).

Even if you have paid your fair share these invitations have already been sent anything you do or say now won't change the wording of the invitation and could only cause an unpleasant and uncomfortable atomosphere. Sometimes, as parents, we must put aside our own feelings and allow our children their happiness. Try not to let this detail upset you and your son's wedding day.
