     Looking for something borrowed

I've heard that something borrowed is usually from a HAPPILY married couple sothe good fortune in marriage is carried over to the newly married couple.

Is it appropriate to ASK to borrow something? Or is this something that someone lends you without you having asked?

Although it is very nice if this is offered, there is no problem with asking.

I absolutely agree. In fact, if you were to state that you wanted to borrow something from that person because she/he is happily married, it may just make her/his day... or perhaps year.
