     Newspaper Announcement

If a couple has a destination wedding should they have an engagement announcement in the paper or should they just have an announcement of the marriage afterwards with wedding picture? My neice did this and I want to put my son's engagement announcement in the paper 4 weeks prior to the marriage and do not wish to put an announcement in the paper after the destination wedding. I will mail out announcements of the wedding.

Dear Cinderellausa,

It is the couple's decision to announce their plans. So, they would want to do this. Please ask them. If they wish to announce, they may announce either or both. And, only those who really need to know about the wedding should receive an announcement. Even those these are not a plea for gifts, some feel that the only reason they are receiving them is to feel guilted into giving.

Best wishes,
