Paying for wedding - who pays what?

My son and his fiance have planned a wedding for 200 guests. His mother and I are divorced and remarried. The bride has only a mother to help out financially. I have invited 7 guests from my family, so the remainder of the guests are from his mother's side and the bride's family. The couple are looking for financial assistance to pay for the wedding. What would be proper for me to contribute? I will additionally be contributing to the rehersal dinner of 30 and the bridal shower. thank you.

Since it is no longer the responsibility of the bride's parent's to pay for the wedding, anything you want to contribute is generous and should be considered a gift.

I completely agree. Plus, parents should not be involved with the shower.
