Paying wedding vendors who are invited to reception

Our sister wasn't planning on paying the soloist and preacher for the ceremony because they are invited to the reception. Is this proper?

Dear Jess,

No this is not proper. They are hired to do a job and should be paid. The preacher is also supposed to be invited to the reception. So, he receives an invitation anyway. It is optional to invite the soloist.

Best wishes,

They should be paid and extended the courtesy of an invitation.
