My fiance' and I are planning to elope to Hawaii in June and have a small reception afterwards in our home town of TN. We started putting together a reception guest list and it came to about 100 people, but we can only afford to feed about 30. I would like to send an announcement previous to us leaving for Hawaii to all 100 people on the original guest list and include an invitation to a reception clause in the narrowed down guest list of 30. First, is it alright to send an announcement previous to the wedding and second, is it rude to send an announcement to those not being invited to the reception? I want all of our friends and family to share in on this moment, but due to expenses, and the amount of guests who would have to travel a long distance I am left confused.
Basically, how do you and who do you announce a planned elopement to.
I'm not sure I really understand the question but, you will only send announcements after the wedding to everyone who needs to know you've been married who are not invited to your reception. Send reception invitations to 30 guests about 6 weeks before the wedding.
I hope this answers your question. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
