Ok, so I am going to be a bridesmaid-I am young (early 20s, so this is my 1st time.)
I have to fly to another state, pay for my dress, hotel, airfare, rental car, food, etc.--I am paying for that all myself---not the bride, who asked me to be in the wedding.
I have to get a bridal shower gift, a bachelorette gift and a wedding gift too?
And I heard a rumor that you, as the bridal party, are to help pay for the bride's make up and hair too? Is that true?

Dear First Time Bridesmaid,
You shouldn't have to pay for your lodging expenses. That is her responsibility. She should also provide transportation to the wedding and reception. She is also responsible for her hair and makeup. You are not responsible for the cost of any of the pre-wedding parties. This is optional.
The bachelorette party is not a gift giving event--no gifts. You can give a joint gift for her shower (if she has one) and her wedding. These do not need to be expensive gifts.
