     Pre-wedding party

My good friend (also co-worker) is getting married and we would like to have a party for he and his fiance. We asked him to come up with a guest list. He feels uncomfortable inviting people from work that are not invited to the wedding.

Is it poor ettiquette to invite people who are not invited to the wedding?

Dear Wants a Party,

Yes, it is poor etiquette to invite guests to a party who are not invited to the wedding. However, if this was a party at work, the coworkers need not be invited to the wedding.

Thank you for your question.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
