I received an invitation to the wedding of a close college friend. The front of the invitation is addressed only to my name. She knows that I have a boyfriend, but hasn't yet met him. Her maid of honor asked a few weeks ago if my boyfriend would be attending so that they could meet him. However, my questions remains, since my name with no "and guest" is on the envelope, should he come?
Also, I do not know the proper way to respond to the reply card:
The favour of a reply is requested
before the seventeenth of September
M______________________________
______ Accept with Pleasure
_______ Decline with Regret
Do I write my name (and my boyfriend's if he is to attend)? If so how do I write that with our two different last names? Also do I simply check beside Accept with pleasure or do I indicate that 2 of us will be attending?
Thanks for your help! It is much needed! Allison

There should have been an inner envelope with the name(s) of the invited guest(s). If just your name is on that inner envelope your boyfriend was not invited and only your name should be written in the reply card. If both of your names are included on the inner envelope then write both of your names on the reply card and check "will attend".
Please do not bring your boyfriend along unless he was invited. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

But it sounds like the MOH was asking in behalf of the bride, or did I get that wrong? I mean, if she was asking you if your boyfriend was attending so they could meet them--they being her and the bride--then it sounds like they intended to invite him. You could call the MOH to clarify what was intended and act accordingly.

There wasn't an inner envelope.

If there was no inner envelope then you should go by the way the enveloped was addressed which implies that only you were invited, sorry. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".
