Setting a date - Father in China

Hello,

My fiance and I have started planning our wedding for 2008. Many of my friends are getting married in 2008 as well and therefore dates are hard to come by. We'd decided on August 23, 2008 for a number of reasons. My father now tells me that he has a business trip to China during that time. Is it rude for me to suggest that he change his plans?

Thanks,

Dear Somany,

He may not be able to change the date of a business trip. Plus, if he already has this planned, it would be much easier for you to change your date.

Best wishes,

Thanks for your help.

It turns out that he can't change it because it coincides with the Olympics that year. It looks like we're going to bump it forward a week.

Yep, I would have made a bet on that and I never bet. A trip planned that far in advance....

Hopefully this new date will be perfect.
