Should vegetarian wedding guest bring her own food
My husband and I are attending one of his employee's wedding. I am a vegetarian and am following a fairly strict diet for health reasons. I mentioned the vegetarian portion to the bride the other day, and she said, "there are lots of sides that don't have meat, like the potato salad... it's a barbeque."
I realize that she should not have to bend over backwards for me but what should I do? I'm not willing to eat a meal that will negatively affect my health. Most of the non-meat foods at a barbeque will be excluded due to my sensitivities. Should I eat something before attending the reception? Could I bring my own food as a backup?
Thank you, Jaie

Dear Jaie,
I understand and sympathize. I was on a very strict diet for many years. But, as you know you will be in situations where there will be no food you can eat no matter how much a host tries to accommodate. So, it is best to eat something before you attend and assume there will be nothing you can eat. It is not polite to bring your own food though.
Generally, there are many items the typical vegetarian could eat at a barbecue though.
