     Ticket for Admittance?

We want to prevent uninvited guests from "crashing" our wedding. I'd like to give each guest a ticket to get in, but I have a feeling this would be a trifle tacky! Some guests will have "Within the Ribbon" cards, but what about the rest of the guests? Can we ask the guests to present their invitation to the ushers before they enter & how would we let the guests know to bring the invitation with them? Is there any polite/socially acceptable way to handle this? TIA.

Dear Ticket,

Yes, there is a polite way of handling this quite common problem. Often couples will marry in a public area such as a museum, so party crashers are a concern. A ceremony-admittance card solves this problem. It is a small card, enclosed with your invitation, which is presented by the guests to the ushers, at the ceremony site. It will state:

Please present this card

Location

Date spelled out (Saturday, the eleventh of July)
