     Uninvited engagement party guest

My parents are throwing us a very small engagement party for our family and wedding party to all get to know each other. Everyone is scattered in different states. One of the groomsman has recently started dating someone, less then 3 mos, and is insisting on bringing her and of course my fiance agrees with him. I have never met this girl and I really don't feel it is appropriate for our first meeting to be on the night of our engagement party. When I voiced my opinion I of course became a "bridezilla" in the eyes of my fiance.

I have no problem invititing her to the wedding next year, should she still be around, but I don't want to deal with her now! Am I being unreasonable?

Dear C,

Only those invited to the wedding should be invited to any prewedding party. And, your parents are the host of this party. So, it really doesn't matter who anyone wants to be invited to this party, as long as they are invited to the wedding and are who your parents want to invite. It would be nice to be able to include dates though. So, it may be best to keep an open mind. Wink

Best wishes,
