Wedding Reception - seating of bride's parents

My daughter's reception is a buffet dinner with the wedding party leading the serving line. Her father and I are not paying 100% of wedding expenses but contributing to cost. However, we are acting as hosts. Should we mingle among guests and serve ourselves after all guests have been thru buffet line or should we be part of wedding party?

Dear Wedding Reception,

Most often the wedding party is served and doesn't stand in line. If all of you are standing in line, it is your choice what you feel comfortable doing. You definitely could go first with the bride and groom. However, as hosts you may want to mingle and make sure that your guests are fed.

It is your choice.

Sincerely,
