     Wedding ceremony invite only

I have been invited to an out of town wedding ceremony held in a church for devote Christian couple. I however, have not been invited to the reception afterwards. No RSVP was given, or indicated on the invitation. Can you tell me what the proper etiquette is in this case? Am I expected to give a gift or inform them of my attendance, or absence from the ceremony?

Dear Mgsj,

I don't know what the significance of the couple being a devote Christian couple is, but I can say that this is very impolite. We never invite guests to the wedding and not the reception. Now, they may not be hosting a reception. This is fine. But, if there is one, you should be invited.

It is your decision to send a gift. But, if attending the wedding, you are expected to send one to them.

Best wishes,
