What a Bride should wear when marrying a man she has lived with for many years
My Fiancee and I have been together for 20 years. He has been married once and has 2 children from that marriage that we have raised. We also have a son who is 18. I have had numerous comments made to me that suggest that it would not be appropriate for me to wear a wedding dress because we have been together for so long. Others tell me to do what I feel because after all this is my first wedding.

You're right, it is your first wedding and you can and should celebrate. However, you've been living together essentially as husband and wife although you don't have the legal paperwork. In some states you would be deemed common law married by now. (as an aside I have been engaged to my fiance for 3 years now and have grown children so I understand your position).
Just consider how you'll appear to your family and friends (if you care - and I assume you do on some level or else you wouldn't even be asking). This does not mean that you don't get married or celebrate. Select an appropriate dress for the level of formality of your event and choose age appropriate accessories. I would think that you would not wear the same outfits suitable for a 20 year old woman so why choose a wedding dress in that same manner?
